KENDRA TATE MSW
THERAPIST
Do you ever feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what to do next? While no one else can do your inner work for you, you don’t have to do it alone. I am committed to helping individuals, teens, and couples find hope, healing, and meaningful change in their lives.
I specialize in working with teens and adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, substance use disorders, relationship challenges, and other mental health concerns. I offer both individual and couples therapy, using a nurturing, client-centered approach that allows us to explore your needs together. My work integrates evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and EMDR/Trauma-Focused CBT.
My path to counseling began with my own experiences. Growing up, I watched my uncle struggle with schizophrenia, which shaped my understanding of how mental health impacts not only individuals but also those around them. As a woman of color, I also realized how rare it was to see providers who looked like me in the mental health field. These experiences inspired me to create a safe, supportive space where teens and adults feel seen, understood, and cared for.
Before earning my Master’s in Social Work from Millersville University, I worked for several years in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and always approach my work through a culturally sensitive lens. I offer in-person sessions in Lancaster, PA, as well as virtual sessions for those who prefer meeting online.
