No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimates

Morning Star Counseling is committed to providing clear and transparent information about the cost of mental health services.

The No Surprises Act is a federal law that provides protections against certain unexpected medical bills. These protections apply to individuals with health insurance as well as individuals who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance to pay for a service.

For more information about your rights under the No Surprises Act, please visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website.

Good Faith Estimates

If you do not have health insurance or choose not to use your health insurance to pay for your mental health services, you may be entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care.

A Good Faith Estimate provides an estimate of the expected charges for scheduled services. The estimate is not a bill and does not guarantee the final cost of services.

Morning Star Counseling will provide a Good Faith Estimate when required by applicable federal law. Generally, an estimate is provided when services are scheduled at least three business days in advance, or when a patient requests an estimate.

If your care is ongoing, the estimated cost may be based on the services reasonably expected to be provided. Actual charges may vary if additional services are requested or clinically necessary.

Patients Choosing to Self-Pay

Patients may choose to pay privately for services when permitted by applicable law, their health insurance plan, and Morning Star Counseling's provider agreements.

Some services offered by Morning Star Counseling may not be covered by health insurance and may therefore be provided on a self-pay basis. Patients will be informed of the applicable fee before receiving services.

If you are choosing not to use your insurance, please notify our office before services are provided so that we can provide any required Good Faith Estimate.

Your Right to Ask Questions

If you have questions about your expected charges, insurance coverage, or Good Faith Estimate, please contact our office before receiving services.

You may also contact your health insurance company directly to determine whether a particular service is covered under your plan.
