Meet Sean Cox
Sean Cox LPC
THERAPIST
Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist ACCTS
You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, and can explain exactly why you think, feel, and react the way you do. Yet despite all that insight, you still find yourself stuck in familiar patterns—people-pleasing, anxiety, hypervigilance, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from yourself.
Healing isn’t just about understanding what happened. It’s about helping your mind and nervous system recognize that you no longer have to survive the way you once did.
I help adults who learned to survive through self-abandonment. Many of my clients struggle with people-pleasing, self-sacrifice, anxiety, depression, hypervigilance, and difficulty identifying or advocating for their needs. I am particularly passionate about working with survivors of complex trauma, emotional neglect, religious or spiritual trauma, and individuals whose substance use developed as a way to manage overwhelming experiences.
I integrate EDR, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients move from self-abandonment to self-trust. Together, we work to heal trauma, regulate the nervous system, reconnect with your authentic self, and create lasting change.
I also work with couples navigating communication challenges, infidelity, intimacy concerns, and attachment wounds using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method.
I am a fully trained EMDR therapist and an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (ACCTS) through the Arizona Trauma Institute.
I look forward to being part of your journey toward healing and growth.
Sean is in network with Aetna, Capital Blue Cross, Highmark, Luminare, Optum, Quest, UPMC Commercial and United Healthcare/UMR. He also accepts self pay clients.
